Meet Beth
6 fun facts about me
One - My sons are named after Spider-man.
It took us FOREVER to decide on a name for my first baby. We had a bajillion girls names, but boys names we could argue back and forth for years. We finally landed on Miles, which my husband liked because his favorite super hero is Miles Morales.
When we found out we were having another boy we knew we were in for it in the name department! We landed on Parker - mostly to keep up with the Spider-man theme. We have now decided another baby isn’t in the cards because we’ve run out of spidey names we like (half kidding. Kinda?)
Two - I have the math skills of a goldfish.
Seriously. I was that kid who would ask for a calculator on a science test. If a receipt doesn’t have a “suggested gratuity” section you can expect my fingers to come out. I also still use my fingers to determine left or right, and I will be using my gps to navigate to my house from down the block.
In my defense, I’ve always been a “gifted reader” and graduated high school early. So although I won’t be helping my kids with math homework, I am a valuable asset to our family trivia team.
Three - I’m a Friday Treat enthusiast
I will always be the one to suggest we get a little treat. My kids know the drill that at the end of a long week we all deserve a pick me up.
I’m a sentimental person, so routines like this are close to my heart. Sign me up for all the movie nights, themed dinners, and holiday activities!
Four - I’m a VBAC mom!
My first baby’s birth was the single most traumatizing, yet amazing days of my life. It’s hard to describe just how terrified, amazed, sad, and elated I was that day. He was born in an unplanned cesarean after a cascade of interventions, and it left me wondering “what the F**** just happened.”
This is what set me on the path to birth work as I threw myself into all the research I could about my experience. Learning that I wasn’t alone in my experience made me feel both better and worse. I was happy to have a community, yet so angry that women are regularly traumatized in this way.
My VBAC was an incredibly healing experience for me. Not just on the day I gave birth, but through the months I spent being an active participant in my care. Knowing that I had full autonomy this time was everything to me. And that’s exactly what I want for ALL women, regardless of birth plan.
Five - Words of affirmation are my love language.
I tend to be very self-critical. I can almost guarantee that if we’ve talked, Ive replayed that conversation in my head once I went home.
Hearing from my husband that I’m a good Mom or Wife makes my heart skip a beat. Clients telling me I made a positive impact on their birth is what makes me the most proud I could be. I find myself going back to read kind reviews over and over, especially on the hard days.
Six - I get hyper-fixated pretty often.
My latest addictions are Taylor Swift and Fortnite. Although I’ve been a swiftie since 1989 (the album, not the year), I recently became re-infactuated. That means my family gets to listen to nothing BUT Taylor if I have music privileges.
Don’t get me started on Fortnite - my little sisters are to blame for this one. What started as just a way to spend time with them became a full fledged addiction. How have I spent this much money on skins??
Meet My Partner
I work closely with a backup doula to ensure my clients will never be left stranded during their birth. In the case I’m sick, at another birth, or out of town Jessica is on call to step in for me.
Jessica was born and raised in the community surrounding Wichita KS. She’s a Registered Nurse, First Aid/CPR Instructor, and Certified Birth Doula. Jessica married her long time best friend in 2023 and they started their homestead together, along with parenting their St. Bernard puppy Mabel.
Jessica became a doula after completing her Nursing degree because she felt called to do more supporting women. She has a unique understanding of the hospital system and communicating with providers.
